A compact transformation turning bare space into a stunning, functional asset

This project converted an unused basement into a distinguished second bathroom. Despite size and lighting challenges, the design maximised functionality while using bold colour for visual interest.

With a footprint of just over 4m², and constraints such as no natural light and limited plumbing options, the design required ingenuity and careful planning.

To avoid the space feeling sterile, bold, strategically placed colours were introduced to add depth and contrast. Custom features, including a sleek vanity, inset shelving, and an elegant mirror, ensured every centimetre of space was utilised effectively. The thoughtful layout improved functionality while maintaining a sense of sophistication.

The thoughtful design not only improved functionality but established a sophisticated aesthetic. Serving as the initial phase of a whole-house renovation, this bathroom set an exciting design direction. By collaboratively exploring our clients' individual and shared design preferences, we crystallised a clear vision for their home's transformation.'

“We have been fortunate to work with Frances to design a new bathroom and refresh the interior of our home. It was our first time engaging an interior designer and our experience has far exceeded our expectations. The initial consultation involved defining our vision and style—we ended up learning so much about the styles we were drawn to. The process was enlightening and Frances was able to capture our thoughts and feelings and reflect them back to us with images that we loved. Frances is a rare talent and we couldn’t be happier with the results from working with her.”
