Project Description

Moving from their family home to a more contemporary house in a city-fringe suburb offered our clients a different outlook for their active retirement lifestyle (the city and sea views are stunning). This was a wholehearted renovation and whilst this couple was open to a fresh start, incorporating meaningful details that maintained a homely feel and connection to their family was really important to them.

A material focus on glass provided an opportunity to display the owners’ extensive collections and also engage with their appreciation of light and lighting. We worked to use strong light and dark contrast to add interest and drama without being overbearing and the refreshed spaces are contemporary and smart but still fun and personal. The outlook to the harbour and hills is vast and we sought to be equal to but not compete with these views.

Murray and Susan, Home Owners Say:

“We are very pleased with the final result which feels complete and ready for our personal touches which we love showing Frances whenever we add something new.  This will be (hopefully) our last home and so wanted to make it exactly how we wanted it.  We are delighted with the end result.”

Frances Says:

“Our clients were wholehearted about the project, open to a fresh start whilst incorporating meaningful details that maintained a homely feel and connection to their family. Their decision making was thoughtful and thorough which is really reassuring that a client is fully engaged, it means there was no back tracking. They cared about the details and wanted results of a high standard so everyone on the team was engaged with that in mind.

Murray and Susan are generous people. I really enjoyed working with a couple that worked wonderfully as a team, who complement each other so well and who truely enjoy the results of their incredible investment in time and energy on this project.”
